Hello! I’m Lindsey Borschel.

Thanks for popping into my little corner of the web.  I hope you enjoy perusing my portfolio. If you like my work and think you might like to hire me, you should get in touch and tell me about your project.  If you want to know more about me first, follow me on Twitter, or just keep reading…

I’m a designer…

Ever since my grandma put a paint brush in my hand as a child, I have been creating things.  There isn’t a single creative venture that doesn’t interest me, but I feel most at home with digital design.  So that’s what I do every day.

I’m a word nerd…

I think language is the single greatest human invention (followed by the printing press and the Internet).  It’s what connects us to each other and to our world.  But I love breaking the rules, because I think language should be whatever we need it to be right now.  Of course, if I’m reading something, I’m proofreading it — it’s compulsive.

I’m quite finicky…

I tend to tinker quite a bit, whether with the alignment in a design, or the code in a web page, or the seasonings in my homemade carrot cake.  It has to be just right.  I’m a fan of quality over quantity.  And if you hire me to design something for you, I expect you to let me be the designer.  There’s plenty of other stuff for you to do.

I’m somewhat fanciful…

I like to imagine the possibilities, take a progressive approach, and test the boundaries of convention.  Don’t get me wrong, convention has its place — especially in website design — but I think there’s a little bit of room for experimentation in everything.

I’m always learning…

I learn something new every single day.  It’s awesome, and I highly recommend it!  This is a huge challenge for me as a designer and website developer, because by the end of a project I almost always learn something I wish I had known at the beginning.  At the same time, that’s the beauty in the work I do: I’m not just continuously improving it; it’s also continuously improving me.
